Great idea Sunir, thanks for setting this up!
Erin Murray
Thanks for creating this subchannel @Sunir Shah
Ohad Tzur - Smith.ai
I would personally be delighted to speak with someone who can give some advice on setting up automated followup emails in SF lightning,
Erin Murray
@Ohad Tzur - Smith.ai I'd suggest posting your question via Salesforce's Partner Community via the "Questions & Answers" or "ISV Technical Enablement" channels. Salesforce TE's monitor both channels and should be able to provide an answer.
Erin Murray
I work for CodeScience, one of the PDO's Joe Ondrejcka mentioned on the call today. Please check out our website as we have tons of FREE material on getting started with Salesforce, how to be successful and best practices. Feel free to dm me if you need deeper conversations.
Erin Murray
@channel I thought I'd post some of the latest content from CodeScience. Instead of publishing our State of the AppExchange report this year, we replaced it with The Chief Product Officer's Guide to Winning as a Salesforce Partner in response to our current economic and pandemic environment. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Posting here as well..... Those of you who have gone through the Salesforce partner agreement, I'd love to pick your brain brain.  Please DM me, thank you in advance!

Hi Jake - if you get any help here, I'd love to follow along. I'm early stage in exploring the App Exchange ins & outs but curious to keep learning simple_smile
François Grenier
I'm not sure I want to remember all of that scream feel free to ask your questions
Sean Matthews
@Jake Wallace we have a partner helping us through the Partner agreement right now for a client; @Tom Elliott can help coordinate, he’d love to answer questions on a quick call. Pretty close to the partner ecosystem folks as well from what I can tell. (CodeScience team is likely your #1 source of info on it, to be honest)
Erin Murray
Thank you @Sean Matthews simple_smile
Jenny Risch (Electric.ai)
@here: Ive had a chance to chat with a few PDOs as I do some fact finding on both costs/resources needed and benefits to the App Exchange, but I'd love some help from software vendors who are in the App Exchange as I estimate potential ROI as a sales channel. I have some general data points from research, but would love insight from others. Feel free to DM me to chat or reply in thread if you have any topline data you're comfortable sharing.
Erin Murray
@channel Would love to hear what you're all frustrated with in regards to your partnership with Salesforce. We know many ISV's are going to be losing Partner Premier Support soon (will only be available to "Summit" partners). What would make your partner experience better with Salesforce? If you're new or existing, would love to hear your feedback.
Sunir Shah
@channel I was just catching up with Salesforce’s team this morning about being more present here to answer questions.

One advantage we have is that we’re neutral and respected. We can present any question or feedback constructively on our members behalf.

Lay it on me. Send me a DM with your top questions/anxieties/feedback/demands/concerns working in the Salesforce channel, and I will work with Salesforce to address our questions constructively.
Jenny Risch (Electric.ai)
Thanks Sunir. We're an ISV currently not in the App Exchange, my question was asking for help as I estimate potential ROI as a sales channel. I have some general data points (ie: percentage for leads), but would love more insight as Im leading internal convos on this topic.
Sunir Shah
Yup, 100%. This is the #1 question they are getting right now. If you lay out 3 or 4 specific questions I’ll try to get answers
Erin Murray
I'd like to add these resources to this thread too: 3rd Annual State of the AppExchange Report

Why Integrate with Salesforce
Jenny Risch (Electric.ai)
I definitely already have your research in my internal presentation Erin wink

Sunir - I think the question boils down to can they provide data on percentage revenue growth they've driven for ISVs in year 1, 2 and so on of being in the app exchange.
Erin Murray
Good morning all. This morning CodeScience is hosting a webinar with nCino, one of Salesforce's most successful ISV's. Hi All! I'm probably posting a questions other raised in the past. But is anyone particularly experience with the nuances of the "paid" vs. "free" requirements for ISVs on AppExchange? I've gotten some conflicting guidance from Salesforce and hoping someone here may be generous to connect over DM to share their learnings?
Jake Wallace
@here does anyone know of any salesforce consultants? We’re considering hiring one on an hourly bases to be able to better understand it and allow us to quickly build specs. Would any PDO be able to offer such a thing?
Sean Matthews
We know a few @Jake Wallace (CC @Tom Elliott

Looking to get their take on what makes sense in salesforce world?

Closing this thread. We found someone. Thanks everyone!

Sunir Shah
Carlos please introduce yourself and what specifically your use case is. I think it would add colour.
Sunir Shah
@Tom Elliott This may be up your alley as well once you hear Carlos’s requirements.
Carlos
Hi @Sunir Shah for sure. My name is Carlos and I am the CEO at Datagran.io we are the Zapier for ML. Since what we do is allow companies to build their ML models and easily send the output to a business app we are starting to build the SF MC destination and we need to understand a bit better how the SF ecosystem work. Our clients are asking to be able to update profiles in SF MC for example.
Tom Elliott
@Carlos Salesforce Marketing Cloud is more of a collection of acquired products, so I understand your confusion around the single “profile” concept

@here As we begin the process of building a direct integration with SFDC. I'm starting to think about Partner relations and GTM post a v1 launch in H12021. I'm considering hiring someone to solely manage our relationship with Salesforce and their ecosystem. I'm thinking this person needs to have several years of experience navigating that world including, having established relationships with the Salesforce partner team, AppExchange and the network of SFDC consultants who leverage the AppExchange for their client base. I'm not sure if this role will be full time or a consultant. Any thoughts on that? Also if anyone is interested in talking - DM me and we'll put some time on the calendar after the new year. More information on us can be found here. Happy Holidays!
Michael Griffin
Hey @Jake Wallace that's pretty much my exact role so happy to help talk through it with you if you're curious about day to day and such

Yes, I would love that. Dm'ing you to set up a time to chat! Thanks.

#salesforce channel - I had a conversation this morning with Salesforce Partner Marketing, giving them feedback on the new-this-year benefit, Digital Marketing Services, as I had two partners go through the process in Q1 with mixed feedback. They are looking to understand the best way to work - at scale - with smaller and/or less connected partners to help you create and deliver marketing campaigns.

My questions to you:

• Who would be willing to be a part of an informal focus group to help Salesforce Partner Marketing do a better job providing campaigns at scale?  • Did you participate in the Digital Marketing Services program in Q1 or are you doing it in Q2? Please dm if you’d be interested/willing to participate in an hour-long feedback group with Salesforce Partner Marketing, they really want to hear from smaller partners. This would take place in mid-July,
Robin Seidner
Hey folks - any of you interested in a feedback session with Partner Marketing on how they can provide value in programs for smaller partners/

Hey... I head up our BD function at PandaDoc and oversee our channel, ISV and strategic partners. Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am looking for someone to join my team as a Sr. level PAM that will focus on developing our relationship with Salesforce. The person I am looking for should have proven success building out a solid relationship with Salesforce. The people that we are finding, mostly current SF employees, are extremely pricey. If anyone has any thoughts or know of any candidates it would be extremely helpful. Thanks
Evan Radisic
Hey Scott, If you have a job posting post it on the CSA job board. Also #jobs

So no in person events this year? I know they canceled the other cities....
Robin Seidner
There are but very limited attendance in SFO and NYC in the US. Invite only for those events
Jason Doran
Hi all, I’m evaluating whether I should use Salesforce as our PRM, and I was wondering if anyone has experience doing this? We already use Salesforce for our CRM and have Partner object created therein.
Jason Lawson
Hi Jason, I’d suggest a couple of initiatives that will help an evaluation like this.

1. Build a requirements doc. Particularly key for PRMs is the type of partnerships you plan to run with and your scale

2. Approach 3-5 PRMs that you feel might be a good fit based on your reqs. Be open to say that you have SF as your CRM and therefore the SF PRM is an obvious solution. They are typically open to provide battle cards v SF, so you can then build out the matrix against your reqs.

Pricing will come into the decision criteria, but I usually advise to keep this secondary, as this is a matrix in itself which can cloud the true exploration of PRM fit.

I see your post is from a month+ ago, so you may have progressed already. If so, interested in your process and outcome
Sunir Shah
@channel We’re having our mastermind to reach Salesforce SIs led by @Tehsin Daya (Groove) for folks who want to join us. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87641800368?pwd=ZFZVTUdyajZ3ak5XNDQ0c0tjdTJUUT09

I have a question regarding building an app for the AppExchange. I read this article and it seems as if there are two types of licenses: ISVforce licenses and OEM Embedded licenses. With the OEM license, SF collects 25% of the license fee. What I am unclear about is what this 25% is based on. To illustrate, lets assume CompanyA is a SaaS-based solution that charges $100K for its core solution. If CompanyA then charges $2,000 for its Salesforce connectivity, does Salesforce collect 25% on the $2K? or is SF somehow collecting 25% on the $100K?

I can see how SF would collect 25% on the $2K because the purchase process could be enabled within the Salesforce platform to turn on the App. But I don't see how Salesforce could collect 25% on the $100K because this is a sales agreement between the customer and CompanyA (the SaaS platform).

Am I correct in understanding how Salesforce collects on its 25% for OEM embedded licenses?
Cliff Simon
its on the 2k that they are purchasing through AppExchange
Bradley Blinn
Thanks for the confirmation. So I assume its up to CompanyA to charge whatever price they want for the AppExchange license? So they could charge, $500, $2K, or $10K if they wanted to. Could they even make the license free even though their customer still needs to pay $100K for their solution?

I assume the benefit for charging a fair price for the AppExchange license fee is that this is revenue that gets passed back to Salesforce and the more revenue that is passed back the greater attention you'll get as a SF partner. Otherwise, why not just offer your AppExchange license for free? :)

Am I thinking about this correctly?
Cliff Simon
it depends
Cliff Simon
but generally, yes
Bradley Blinn
in what instances does it make sense to just offer your AppExchange license for free?
Cliff Simon
i’ve seen companies who are making enough on the base fees they charge offer things on appexchange to drive stickier solutions and get their customers further imbedded into their ecosystem
Erin Murray
@Bradley Blinn I would check out the CodeScience website, specifically the "Acting Like a Top 25 Webinar Series" and the "How I Launched this Podcast" and the "AppChat Podcast" (especially featuring Trisha Price from nCino). All free content. If you have more questions, happy to connect offline.
Evan Radisic
Keep in mind, the more money SF makes from you and more customers install the more attention/love you get from SF which leads to more customers/installs, and it keeps going and going. You want SF to make money
Bradley Blinn
Evan, agree with you 100%. I’m glad I was able to clarify that SF earns a percentage on the api connector itself.
Cliff Simon

Interested in learning more about the Salesforce ecosystem? Did you check out the CodeScience 5th Annual SOAP (State of the AppExchange) Report?
Jacinda Matherne
I'm offering a dual-sided reward. Referrers get an iPad when their referral purchases our product, and qualified Referees get a 360° camera to use on their free trial of our product. Is there a way for Salesforce to flag referrals/leads for our SDR team so that it's clear to them when the new Lead has already been promised a free 360° camera? For example, is there a way to apply logic to trigger a flag/message/warning on the Lead (if Lead Source and Campaign equals X, then flag the lead as Y)?
Andrus Purde
Is there anyone here that’s experienced in selling in the Salesforce App Exchange / SF ecosystem overall (and would have time to chat to a n00b such as your truly)? We’ve recently added a Salesforce integration for Outfunnel (tool that connects sales and marketing data), have first customers using it and am keen to accelerate learning / growth.

Am user to working with other CRMs (was part of Pipedrive for 7 years before starting Outfunnel) but am new to SFDC.
